Updated
: 28th October, 2012 (Windows 8 Pro with Media Center - Final Release)
Do you offer any support for your products with Windows
8 v.Any ?
Short Answer : No Sorry.
tl;dr Answer : No 'actual' support (or
warranties it may imply) for the bigscreen products on Windows 8 is provided nor offered unless explicity stated with relevent product. As Media Center is no longer being worked on / enhanced by Microsoft - any problems due to issues with Media Center are beyond our control.
Is there anything special I need to do to get your
products working on Win8?
Before you can install any of the existing big
screen products on Windows 8 Consumer Preview - you need to add/enable the
Windows 8 Feature for '.NET Framework v2 + v3.5' (otherwise the
installer will prompt you to install this the first time). If you are running Big Screen EPG you will need to get the new Windows 8 specific release (as the existing Windows 7 version does not work).
What is the Current Status of each of your products with Win 8?
If you're upgrading your HTPC to Windows 8 Pro (with Media Center feature) - here's the information about how our products may or may not
behave.
Big Screen EPG -
A new release of Big Screen EPG v1.5a has been made available as a full installer + 'patch' for both Windows 7 + Windows 8 (two seperate binaries are included).
You will need to grab this v1.5a release for Windows 8 in order to make it work on Windows 8 as the current Windows 7 release will not work. Please visit the
big screen epg download page to get the appropriate files.
Big Screen by Remote -
At this point this product is only working on Windows 7 Media Center (and will not work on Windows 8). There are no plans at this point to re-release this product for Windows 8 - however keep an eye on our site for any change to this.
Big Screen Headlines 2 -
Addin Installed/Worked (Not Tested: Subscribed RSS/Extenders)
Big Screen Photos 2 -
Addin Installed/Worked (Not Tested: flickr account sign-in/Extenders)
Big Screen Weather 2 -
Addin Installed/Worked.
Big Screen Contacts 2 -
Not Tested - Will likely work - but may not sync with the new Windows
Contacts system.
Please note that testing was performed using Win8 RTM x64 version
(however x32 should be fine). No testing has been done running Media Center
Extenders with our addins. (however it may work properly as indicated above
if this scenario is supported in the RTM version of Media Center and the current version of XBox 360 Dashboard).
