FAQ: Using IPTV Sources and EPG Listings.

Big Screen EPG is able to import and assign listings to any IPTV channels (Live TV which is broadcast via your Internet connection) - that has been configured to be accessible via your Media Center Live TV/EPG.  You will need to check with your ISP if such as IPTV Services are currently available or not.

Note : While Big Screen EPG does not directly facilitate accessing IPTV streams on Windows 7 Media Center - we recommend you check out the 3rd party product 'DVBLink for IPTV' published by DVBLogic which can do this for you. (and who also produce other similar products for getting other unsupported Live TV sources into Windows 7 Media Center such as DVB-C/S2 etc). Once you have setup this product (or equivalent) - then Big Screen EPG can then take care of the EPG listings side of things.

We have successfully tested this scenario using IPTV (TPG Internet ADSL2+) + Big Screen EPG + DVBLink for IPTV in Australia (where around 28 free IPTV channels are broadcast) - and have been able to successfully watch channels, view/assign EPG data (and parental controls/restrictions) and perform scheduled recordings (as you would with normal live tv sources).

Using Big Screen EPG listings for IPTV is also useful if you want to apply parental controls to certain channels (such as blocking the 'Playboy Channel' or other adult only content - available on TPG IPTV).

If you have setup IPTV on your Media Center - you would need to follow these steps in order to assign Big Screen EPG listings to these additional channels.

· Setup your IPTV so that you can see these channels inside the Media Center EPG.
· Add a new XMLTV Provider in Big Screen EPG that contains appropriate EPG data for these channels (and appropriately configure any channel logos or other channel specific settings you might like - such as auto generated Program Entries - or automatic assignment of preset genres/parental classifications) - and then import the data as per normal.
· If you are already getting Inband Data for these channels (via DVBLink) and you have new listings to assign - remember to 'Disable Inband' listings for those channels. (see Help File topic Ignoring Inband Schedule Data).
· Manually assign the new/imported listings to these channels (see Help File topic Applying your New Listings to Channels in Media Center )

Note : From our testing - it's not currently possible to 'auto map' IPTV EPG Listings directly from Big Screen EPG using callsigns or channel numbers (so 'zero' configuration is needed) - instead you will need to manually assign each of the listings to appropriate channels the first time you set it up.
